Parent-Teacher Association
Dear Parents/Carers,
What is the PTA and what is it for?
PTA stands for Parents and Teachers Association. Our primary purpose is to raise funds for extras. That is, those items which fall outside the educational budget but are necessary, or desirable, for the children’s development and the general wellbeing of the school.
Who is in the PTA?
We all are! We are all parents and teachers, after all! We have a committee, which organises the events, and we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join us. As children leave school, so do their parents and we always need volunteers to join the committee, to keep the PTA viable.
What sort of things does the PTA give to the school?
Some examples of items we have donated are: Outdoor play equipment; daffodils for Mothers’ Day assembly; rosettes for sports day; Smartboards; Wish lists for each year group; the stage - which has been used for many wonderful performances and the school kitchen. Our next big project is to provide new laptops & software and library books.
How does the PTA raise funds?
Throughout the year, we organise fun events for the children and some for the whole family. Below is a list of typical events:
Themed discos, entertainment evening competitions, summer fete and quiz nights
What can I do to help?
There are 3 ways you can help us:
1. Participation - Support us by allowing your children to attend our events and join in with the family fun, such as the summer fete. This contributes directly to our fundraising and they are enjoyable social events.
2. Event Helper – we always need help with our events to do things such as: serve refreshments and hot dogs, stick on tattoos and run stalls at the Summer Fete.
3. Committee Member – we plan and organise the events. The committee members are teachers and parents like you - mums and dads. Our only qualification is that we have a child at the school. We always need new members to replace those whose children have left school.
How do I join the PTA committee?
Just ask! We are always looking for new ideas for fundraising events and would love to welcome new members to the Team. We meet around once every half term and would love to welcome new members to the team.
Why should I join the PTA?
We on the committee, have joined because we believe we make a difference in providing the children with those things that they would not otherwise have. Everything is done to purely benefit our children and to enhance the facilities they have in school. The more money we raise, the more we can do!
Come and join in the fun! We hope to see you soon
Best wishes
